I want to share with you a yearly challenge that has helped me consistently focus on my annual goals and the vision for my life. It’s the practice of setting an intention word for the New Year.
What Is An Intention Word?
An intention word sets a direction or focus for your behavior. It is a guide towards deeply rooted plans you have for your life.
Here are my intention words for this year and the past two years:
FOCUS– 2015
FAITH – 2016
VIGILANT – 2017
Vigilant = watchful, observant, attentive and alert.
In 2017, I intend to be Vigilant regarding my vision for my life and attentive to achieving my goals in the following areas:
Spirituality
Well-Being
Gratitude
Personal Development
Relationships
Finance
Business
In the two years that I have participated in this practice, I have to admit having an intention word has not only helped me take action on my goals but also significantly contributed to both my personal and business decision-making processes.
WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FROM A WORD!
I wholeheartedly, encourage you to choose an intention word to be your guide for 2017. Not sure what word to choose? Here are some suggestions to inspire you:
-Think of all the things you would love to accomplish in 2017 both personally and professionally.
-Write down your goals for the year and let those goals confirm which words you should use. Which action words would inspire you to achieve your goals and help move your life forward?
-Think about which word resonates with you most and the plans you have for the year head. Consider a strong word that will embody the effort you intend to put towards your goals.
-Choose your word and put it into practice.
Write the word and its meaning down on paper. You can put the word on your vision board, in your daily planner or post it in a place where you can look at it every day. Declaring your intention daily will help you refocus bringing you back on track when things go off plan. Make your intention-word the guideline for everything you do in 2017 so that you can reach new levels of success.
